Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best way to contact Mrs. Garland?

My prefered method of contact is via email. stephaniehallgarland@vusd.k12.ca.us

If you do not have access to email, you can call 760-726-5766 and leave a message, or send a note to school with your child.

I would like to send donations to school with my child. Which materials are most wanted?

The items that are used the most in our class are Dry Erase Markers, Number 2 Pencils, Tissue, Hand Sanitizer, HP Ink (Black Cartridge 45) (Color Cartridge 78), graph paper, and college ruled notebook paper.

My child received a sticker in his/her planner, what should I do with it?

If your child received a sticker note in his/her planner, please talk to your child about the message on the sticker and sign on the line. The sticker should stay in the planner so we can take notice of any patterns. It is important that we work together to stay in the loop about noticed behaviors in class. Also, please email me if there are any circumstances at home which may be the cause of unwanted behavior in class.

How do you determine work habits grades?

Work habits grades are based on student work habits in class, homework grades, and quiz grades.  Students should use homework grades and quiz grades as a method to check for understanding. If they did receive an N or U for work habits, I recommend that they make everyday use of the tools available to them (learning labs afterschool, my.hrw.com videos, interactive practice quizzes, etc).

What should my child bring to your class everyday?

Students are expected to bring a math composition book, sharpened pencils, a red pen for correcting, the Vista Magnet Middle School Planner, a dry erase whiteboard marker, a 3-Ring Binder with plenty of notebook paper, and a great attitude! :)
